Mrs Martha Winiecki

My daughter was having orthodontic treatment under 2 Italian "orthodontists", Alicia Caffarena and Silverio Di Rocca, in Cambridge.

Her treatment was not going very well and by the time we thought of questioning it all, these 2 dentists left the country leaving in their wake a trail of disasters.

It has cost us £3,000 in private orthodontic care to put things right plus another £2,000 in costs for pursing legal action which all fell flat on its face because of lack of indemnity insurance.

My daughter was pursuing a career in acting so we had to get things fixed quickly. She did in the end finish acting school and works professionally now but it was at great cost to us to put things right.

I think in this day and age in this country, things need to be put in place to protect people from "cowboy" practitioners. Anyone can hang a sign on their door purporting to be this and that when they are not. It's a sin. This was at an NHS dental practice too - a great failure indeed and a huge embarrassment to the system. We have lost faith.

 It's a disgrace.
